SNCF Customer Case

SNCF (French Railway Company) chose Golaem Solutions for its “Enhancing travelers flows” project.

Golaem, and its partner IPSIS, help SNCF to simulate and optimize the boarding and disembarkation time of passengers for trains in Paris and its region. Based on observations on the field, Golaem and SNCF capture traveler’s behaviors and implement them in a configurable simulator.

SNCF will then be able to simulate various situations on any train, e.g. rush hours, impolite or mobility impaired passengers…

This tool will enable SNCF to:

  • better negotiate with its suppliers when buying new trains
  • help their designers to test their ideas quickly
  • communicate with their stakeholders on the importance of the required investments

« When a supplier proposes a change in the layout of the railcars, we need to assess the impact on user traffic. Hence the interest for simulation »

« [other software] can handle crowd in a macroscopic way, but it is not sized to handle the way people interact with their environment. How people go down the stairs, the way they hold the grab bar…»
